Returning Staff who worked in 2025 reapply (if you receive the invitation to return from the Village).

New Staff apply and new CITs (13 years old) – application link will be on website.

APRIL 30

1st Year Counselors and Families Onboarding meeting – remote 5:00-6:00pm

May 1

ALL Staff Applications close

MAY 14 & MAY 16

Prospective CITs need only attend 1 of the following 3 CIT remote sessions offered by Molly Davis, Camp Director

• MAY 14: Prospective CITs Info Session and Interview 5:00 – 7:00pm (Session 1)
• MAY 16: CIT Information and Interviews 10:00-12:00pm (Session 2) and 2:00-4:00pm (Session 3)

JUNE 30

Program Directors and Specialists remote 5:30pm to 7:00pm

July 1

Group Leader Orientation remote 5:30pm to 7:00pm

July 2

All Camp Staff Orientation on-site in Saltaire (TIME TBD when summer ferry schedule is published)

TRANSPORTATION:

Saltaire Day Camp is located in Saltaire, NY – on Fire Island. If you do not live in Saltaire or a surrounding community you will have to consider your commute – you can take the ferry at 7am from Bay Shore – here is the schedule, or you can travel by foot or bike from Robert Moses Field 5. You can purchase an Empire Pass to park in the lot.

Please note transportation costs (ferry tickets or Empire Passes) are covered by the Village of Saltaire only for those in aquatic or leadership positions (Program Directors, Specialists, Group Leaders) – other roles may be eligible based upon their season availability and at the discretion of Village administration.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Paid counselors must be age 14 and up, have valid working papers (those ages 14-17), and make a minimum 4 week commitment. Those staff who can commit to August will be given priority.
• CITs (Counselors in Training): must be age 13, do not require working papers, and must make a minimum 3 week commitment.
